A Complete Signing Workflow

Papyrus supports the full document signing lifecycle. Users upload PDF documents, place signature fields with precise drag-and-drop positioning, add recipients with role-based field assignment, and choose between parallel or sequential signing order. Recipients receive personalized email notifications with secure signing links. They can draw or type their signatures directly in the browser with no account required. Once all parties have signed, Papyrus generates a finalized PDF with embedded signatures and a complete audit trail.

Built for Developers

The REST API covers every operation available in the UI: creating documents from templates, sending for signature, tracking status, downloading completed documents, and managing webhooks. HMAC-SHA256 signed webhooks deliver real-time notifications for key events like recipient signatures and document completion, with automatic retry and exponential backoff for reliability. API tokens are managed through a dedicated developer settings panel with full token lifecycle support.

Templates and Reusability

For teams that send the same types of documents repeatedly, Papyrus provides a template system with role-based field configuration. Instead of rebuilding documents from scratch, users define a template once with placeholder roles and field positions, then generate ready-to-send documents by simply assigning recipients to roles. Templates are fully accessible through the API, enabling programmatic document generation at scale.

Team Collaboration and Multi-Tenancy

Papyrus is designed for teams from the ground up. Every user gets a personal team at signup, with the ability to create additional teams and invite unlimited members on paid plans. Documents, templates, and webhooks are all scoped to teams with complete data isolation. Team members can collaborate on document workflows while maintaining clear organizational boundaries.
